Shiraki Kougei / Torchin
Our company has been making lanterns (fire boxes) in Yame, Kyushu's largest traditional craft production area, blessed with abundant nature. The long history of Yame lanterns, the manufacturing techniques cultivated by our predecessors, and their beautiful designs make them representative of Japanese crafts, and we feel grateful and proud to be involved in this type of work and to continue making them. We believe that our mission is to properly inherit the "skills" as traditions, to train young craftsmen, and to propose products that blend into modern lifestyles by utilizing the latest technology of each era, without being bound by past values. We hope to deliver the "newness" that is born from this to everyone.
